The view from my "office"

For 150 years the main highway up the East Coast from Hobart has gone through Paradise Gorge, just south of Orford, so called because the road was anything but Paradise.

and everyone drives underneath these rocks. The top one is held back by a wire strap.

Mid last week, Roads Dept declared it unsafe and closed the highway with 2 days notice. So to get to Hobart, rather than an hour drive, I can go north then west then south for 3 hours, or take a forestry road, about 75 mins. So this was the office this morning ( stopped at the time!!)

Yes Wave Rock, our mini Ayers Rock/ Uluru. Wonderful views from the top.

The town of Hyden food and beverage services and the surrounding accomodation was lacking but nearby Corrigin was a pleasant surprise. Great Farm stay B and B and a couple of nice cafes with home made food that don't close at 2pm !

On a wander out yonder.

... Glory days long gone.
I had to photograph the facades, as the streetscape was depressing.

A PERfect afternoon on the water with @cove this afternoon taking in a demo of a Veem Gyro stabiliser on their 20m boat off Freo. An unbelievable piece of kit that practically eliminates rolling. The difference with it off, then on, was amazing. And a couple of monster MTU's had that baby cranking at almost 40knots on the way back.:)

Yes @JohnM that was a very interesting boat ride instead of being office bound on a Wednesday. Going out of Fremantle on a high powered launch was not attractive to Mrscove nor my business partners as they are scared of sea sickness.
The boat demo was awesome and Veem take investors, potential customers and stockbrokers out to demonstrate the gyro. It was a PERfect day of course.

Interesting - I wonder how I'd have handled it. I'm terrible with sea sickness :(

Here's some video.

The skipper cranked up the boat to generate a good wake, cut the throttles, then turned side on to our own, pretty chunky, wake.

Gyro on - gyro off - gyro on as the wake crosses the vessel from the side.

Gyro on = not a drop of spilt Krug for @cove. ;)
Very interesting photos and video. My brother worked at Veem for about 10 years before he retired I will have to show him these.
