Rough seas at Lighthouse Beach Ballina today

I wouldn't want to take a boat across the Richmond River bar either.

I'm slowly expiring of heat stroke at my 'office' - visiting mother in Gippsland.

At 94 she feels the cold! She's asleep in the chair having had a busy day as her sister (82) who is staying in Melbourne visited for the day.

I love my mother but do admit to looking at all those exciting office photos with a touch of a envy :)

Sounds like my mum; she wants to live in a t-shirt so the house is constantly boiling.

Pics from my recent trip to Huntsville Alabama. Love that place & have to go back. Southern people are so nice.

Wish I could stay at the office all the time.

Where? Surely that isn't Tassie at this time of year! If it is, I have to say I suggested to my +1 that we visit Tassie in May (May last year over March when we actually went) and she said "definitely not. It'll be too cold and miserable".

The missus is right - don't visit! Its lovely to have the place to ourselves this time of year ... just look at the water, perfectly calm, great for fishing out in Great Oyster Bay. :p

Seriously though ... sure, plenty of days like that this time of year and even throughout winter. Timing the fine spells is the challenge for visitors.

I spent the winter of 2015 in Burnie.Yes it was cold having snowed 3 days I was there.First time in 31 years snow had stayed on the ground in Burnie. But a lot of the days were beautiful with blue skies and I did several short walks through the bush along the North West coast.
As a tourist though you could always get one of those weeks with a daily low pressure system moving through with wind and rain and think what was he on.
