The view from my "office"

This is our investment place at Newport Quays. Well, the bank owns most of it. We are between tenants but we plan to move down here in a couple of years and sell the city place. Tenants usually move out at the beginning of the year so weather is always fabulous. Last tenant stayed for 3 years. It's fully furnished as well.

I'm here twiddling my thumbs waiting for the power people to turn electricity on. No aircond obviously and it will be 39 here today. Hope he comes early.

Looks very pleasant there - is it down on the peninsula?

That's the Port River  Port Adelaide and near Semaphore Beach. 10 years ago there was a massive development for four different stages - this was stage 1. Stage 2 went ahead and then things went to carp. So our investment turned out not to be so and there were court cases due to false advertising by the developers. Who lost. But we purchased with the aim of eventually living here. There are dolphins that cruise by and are well known. We also have a small marina berth <down there> that isn't currently used.

What is it with tenants moving out at the beginning of the year?? My place at Mosman will be vacant from 2nd Feb, and Parkes (though should have new tenant next week) & 1 in Tamworth are also vacant.

re: The view from my "office"

Simple in regional areas-it is when teachers, resident doctors etc start their employment.

Oops - sorry about that. I thought you had 'property' down south and that's why I wrongly assumed this was it.

And did the electricity guy arrive?

Have you checked that the main switch is just turned off. That is what they do between ocupants in NSW for quite some time now. They only do a full disconnection (remove the main fuse cartridge) when specifically requested.

Or may be just the usual case of SA being 20+ years behind the rest of OZ............................

There is a bank of electrical cabinets. Tried opening them but there must be a key or latch or something. So freakin hot. 40 outside and must be 30 in here.

Bloody SA Power networks. Scum of the earth and no competition. If I cancel now it's got to be done all over again.

Just to get back on topic.

Afternoon view

And - we have power!
Not having had much to eat or drink other than water the EA suggested Dominoes pizza and coke. Never eat dominoes but somehow it sounded just right. Of course - Murphy's law. The pizza arrived at the exact time the SA power guy did. Pizza guy earned a tip, SA power guy a slice of pizza and I got the aircond and power. Triple win.

Also, with low interest rates many are opting to buy than rent. Here in PQQ 3 years ago you had to line up to inspect a rental property, now landlords are happy to negotiate on rents to find a suitable tenant.
