The view from my "office"

re: The view from my "office"

I walked out of my hotel yesterday morning and there was someone literally accross the road selling pomegranate juice. I tried one and it was delicious. Thanks for the tip. :)

This is the stall where I bought one back on 1 Oct 2008. It was really invigorating on a hot day in IST.

I met the girl and the guy in the brown t-shirt in the hostel where I was staying in the Sultanamet. He insisted on getting behind the counter to squeeze a juice with the vendor. Hilarious guy. Interesting story for the lady: she had resigned or taken leave of absence from Lehman Brothers in about August to go travelling and then it went bust on 15 Sept - taking with it her pile of employee-allocated shares.

Doesn't seem to have changed since '79!

Perhaps the food is better?

A variety of views from the office last week. 5000k's down, a lazy 1000 this week.

I had lasagna @ one of the two pubs. It was very tasty & I was thankful it was a small serving huffing & puffing back up the hill, that felt like a mountain. My office has changed again, no herrings which I dislike.

View from our "office" today: New Orleans
There is a football game on today so the street outside is full of people and there are drums and singing in the streets! A great welcome to NOLA :)

Off to find a "streetcar named Desire" :)

re: The view from my "office"

This is today's office. :) Behind is "my mountain" (spent a fair bit of time up there, over the years), and the mine I work on, on the right flank.

Up at that mine, there's a bear hibernating in a den, only 50 metres from the open cut. Visitors had to have a look of course ... (and no, I wasn't going to take a flash photograph inside  Ever heard of 'let sleeping bears lie'? ). We also have a mountain lion that leaves its paw prints in the snow for us to contemplate ....

More of my mountain, and the view the other way, from the 'mine office':

And the 'drive' back to Calgary ... Another look at Lake Louise on the left.

In the evening we saw the Flames take on and beat the Ottawa Senators 4-2. National Anthem 'O Canada' on the left; Go Flames Go on the right!

Office for today .......G20 is all but done and dusted and today I found myself at an Energy Efficiency conference, which was fine and there was actually some really good information to be gleamed.
Only problem was the venue .... The Sir Donald Bradman Room at the Q.C.C looking straight out on to the Gabba ........on a beautiful day with QLD v NSW on the go.

Apart from their respected States in the Sheffield Shield and their dream of perhaps one day being signed up to a very lucrative Crickets Australia or I.P.L. Contract....about 100 people in the 'members area' and an equal number in the 'general admission' area absolute max. I'd guess .....
Yet come 10 am on Thursday December 4 there probably will not be a spare seat in the venue ..
