I am presently overseas and was trying to make a new booking this morning, which one would think would be easy just get online and do it, wrong.

Whether there was something wrong with the system I don't know, but after 3 attempts to log in my account was suspended, yes suspended.

So being a premium member onto the phone I went, and after 15 minutes waiting I was asked some relevant questions, not too hard in the scheme of things until the question "when did you join the Qantas frequent flyer program"?

Now I don't know about the rest of you members but when I joined the program when it first came out way back when is not something that I keep retained in my memory bank, pin numbers to bank accounts is easy for me, birthdays are there as a priority, my home address is up there as well in the scheme of things to remember but when I joined the qantas scheme is not one of them.

So my question this morning to you all please is how long do I get suspended for?

Or do I have to get back on the phone from overseas to get to plead my case?

If you have your membership card it says 'member since'.

Hopefully you'll be able to book soon.
 
Can't you just go online and book the flights without logging in and add your QFF # at the end? Or are you trying to book an award flight.
 
Is there a reason you didn't book on the phone while you were at it?

Was your account suspended or just your login credentials? Two very different scenarios.
 
You join Month is the month of your annual status credit reset.
So all you have to do is remember the year you joined.
 
I certainly don't remember the year I joined. This isn't exactly critical information to retain.
i do but then I have one of those sorts of minds. Mr FM struggles to remember what year the kids were born. Qantas' security is pretty rubbish as we all know - should have security questions that you can set yourself. Mind you I sometimes struggle with those :)
 
I joined in 1997, but I couldn't tell you when my SC anniversary is. So it works both ways.

when this came up in the other thread, I worked out it was 1 or 2 possible years, 1 of those was correct. I don't remember the year, exactly, but I can work it out. As I've now checked because of this discussion I now remember the year. Will have to see if I can still work it out in a few years time.

I'm pretty aware that I need to earn X status credits by a certain month every year. I think most people who are tracking there status levels would have that knowledge. As such it doesn't really work both ways, more people should know the month than know the year. But agree some people don't worry about tracking status either.

It may not be critical information for daily life. But it is information that is unique to the individual that is known to both Qantas and the customer. The security connection is pretty clear.

But it isn't failsafe. Someone has their wallet pinched with the QFF card inside, that information can be accessed by a third party.
