The Qantas Status Run Master Thread

Booked KUL-DOH-MAN via BA on QR, class I. $4,084 for 320SCs. Not the best SCs for the bux, however Q-Suites on 2 flights.
Why did you book via BA? Looks to be a couple of $’00 cheaper direct with QR, but I didn’t check if that would be “Lite” fares (so no AM lounge etc).

Although I guess booking via BA possibly avoids “Lite” fares on QR metal. Seat selection can be problematic with QR codeshares - did that work ok?

Popping across to Europe and flying long haul from there also save another couple of $’00. AMS, MAD, MXP and FCO seemed to be some the cheaper QR options (~A$3.6k into LGW, LHR, MAN).

For the actual days we wanted, QR was ~$350 (each) more.

Adient (Q-Suite lite) - full seat selection available.
Q-Suite - the centre seats were blanked out.

Went on to QR chat and a very helpful person booked 3EF and 7EF IIRC, thought we'd try each cabin on the 773.

Not a pure status run, but made use of some interesting routing options between Australia and Penang for an upcoming family holiday around SE Asia. I class fares were in the mid $5s and C class in the high $7s.

One quirk of the fare is that SIN-KUL vv legs must be in Economy if using the QF flight code, but it's possible to book into C on the MH flight number so have done that for an extra 20 SC.

With the help of a spare movie ticket, I'm expecting this to yield 840 SC and 48k QFF. Almost knocks over a 50 SC loyalty bonus too.

Mrs sudoer & Ms sudoer are on P/U class awards for this trip, so I'm hoping to join them in F on the SYD-SIN leg too (only 32k points from C-F)

Confused by some of the timings on this...?..involves 3 transit night stops or impossible connections?

I've intentionally removed dates but there are stops in SYD, PEN, SIN, SYD. KUL is also overnight - a 21 hour transit.

I am based in SYD and use these fares to end/start other holidays (in this case in BNE and ADL) for often the same price or cheaper than originating in SYD.

Looks like you have to be logged into an Iberia Club account to search/book those flash offers. I assume you can still change the FF number to Qantas during the booking flow, or are you locked into crediting to Iberia Club?
Not sure since I haven't actually tried booking one. Had a very close possibility but wrong direction.

I'm pretty new here and interested to hear experienced thoughts...

With 4 months left I'm 225 SCs from Gold and wondering if it's worth trying to get there or do I just be content with yet another year of Silver. (A little more content with that assuming I now won't lose all those surplus points when my Qantas year ticks over.... ).

I'm based in Darwin so have fewer flight options but I'm wondering if something like a SGP trip via another domestic capital would be one reasonably cost effective strategy.

Also curious if people think there might be another double status credit offer soon or definitely no?

Have you achieved Green Tier already (50SC) and how close are you to a loyalty bonus? (also 50SC)

How much non-J class travel do you anticipate next year? Will you be flying only on Qantas, or also on OW partners?

Unlikely in next 4 months IMO, but not completely out of the question.

Thanks @sudoer

Green Tier - i have only 1 of 5 activities so far so I've kinda left that out of the equation.

Loyalty bonus - I already accounted for that. I'm actually sitting on 445 SCs atm but the loyalty bonus will kick in at 670 pts so I only need 225, not 255.

Tbh, I only really look at Qantas. Darwin is serviced by few other airlines so I've never really look further.

I'm hoping I'll have 20-60 SCs in November from work travel but that's uncertain.

I don't know how much travel i'll do next year to be honest, so maybe it's not worth it... the temptation is attractive though! And it would extend my Q Club membership for a year

Which activity do you already have? Many of them are cheap and easy to achieve, it can be very cost effective from a $/SC perspective.

I'm not following the math here - can you confirm how many SC you currently have towards the loyalty bonus?

I think would be difficult to earn the number of SC needed for less than the cost of a QC membership. If you only fly Qantas (especially domestic) I think that would be the more sensible option.
