The Qantas Status Run Master Thread

J out of PQQ is very hard to find normally, let alone reward flights...
Assuming economy out of PQQ and J across the Tasman, thats 156SC. I probably need two laps across the tasman :(
You'd need cash fares. You'll need to do a lot of flying to get 190 SCs (x2) through PC (or fluke a return flight to Europe in J).

I can see a CR return trip that would net (7 + 90) x 2 x 2 = 388 SCs. Departing March but earliest return was first week of April…

I presume that's heading deep into the heart of cowboy country?

EDIT Mind you, you'd need almost 500K points if it's the one I think you're referring to. PQQ-AKL can be done for about $2K all-in.

@Mattg - which website is this one? I'm trying to book some intra-Europe Iberia lots of SC specials but I can't seem to get the Iberia flights to appear on any websites that I try :(
Try using UK Skyscanner or Kayak. I've found they're good at digging up cheap IB fares.

Yes, already registered. I was more after a suggested itinerary... My home airport is PQQ.

I will probably be flying PQQ-SYD-CBR return next week, but the flight down may be before the fly dates start :(

1) How far along am I in my membership year?

With Qantas’ system, you have a fixed anniversary date. Any new status you earn will be valid for the rest of the current year plus the whole next anniversary year (potentially from 12 to 23 months).

If you’re very close to your anniversary date and nowhere near Platinum, then it will be tough to get all the required Status Credits in time. Plus, you won’t have as much time to enjoy it. Perhaps save your efforts for the following year.

Hey guys, i did a PER-SYD-AKL-MEL-PER for $3.5k & 350SC (DSC) which got me to gold straight away, then work paid for a PER-HKG-HND-JFK-HND-HKG-PER which got me to Platinum late last year. Qantas is showing an expiry of 31st March 2026.

Does this mean I only have 3 mths of Platinum and ill be back to Gold from 1st April 26?

Just working out what flights to take to retain Platinum from Perth, appreciate suggestions and feedback.

I think I might need a spot of help here.

I'm trying to find an Iberia J class special from LHR-MAD-HAM (120 SC's each way), departing on or around the 29th of May and returning 13th of June or a day earlier - I've tried Kayak, ITA Matrix, Google Flights, Skyscanner etc - and the best I'm finding is $1548 - $6.45 per SC.

Am I doing something wrong here?

What fare are you expecting?

Have you tried BA?

I suspect you've probably left your dash too late. When hunting for cheap IB fares, the best deals are several months out.

FWIW, I forced a LHR-MAD-HAM flight on 29 May using IB's multi-city tool. Came to 367 quid so about $720.

Often the IB indirect J fares come in sub-$3 per SC.

BA are only offering their LHR-HAM direct flights
Sometimes BA, IB and AY will show the indirect options - often for quite different prices!

Other thing then is to play around with ITA using the “nearby” and see if there are other ports coming in cheaper across the OW airlines.

I’m 1/3 the way to gold. Given the way things are changing with QFF there’s little-no advantage to renewing in the short term.
