Sure did, competition for the window and ramp seats was fierce.
I recall flying during that period from Canberra to MEL on a medium RAAF twin (can't remember the name - former VIP Squadron) which was a nav trainer with a row of screens/dials down starboard side and a single row of rear facing seats down portside. Also returned from MEL on a Herc with (non-PM) Gough Whitlam who, after the rear ramp was lowered for deplaning said loudly "This is outrageous. Where's the band??"

From pictures I saw the pax were seated along the sides of the fuselage sitting in sort of hammock seats right under the parachutes.
Everyone was issued with industrial grade ear plugs

Wow, just wow!!!!!! I'll be visiting the Museum of Flight in Seattle in January, and I know they have an SR71 there, and I think the jumbo in the picture is Jumbo number one, which is also at the museum. You little ripper!!!!:)

They also have a Concorde and the B707 Air Force One - both of which you can walk inside.

If you get down Portland way, try to get out to McMinnville and visit the Evergreen Aviation Museum Directions | Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum | Wings & Waves Waterpark | McMinnville Oregon. A big drawcard is the Spruce Goose.

A great place to stay is McMenamin's - a beautifully restored old hotel right in central McMinnville McMenamins - McMenamins Hotel Oregon - McMinnville, OR (503) 472-8427 - McMinnville Restaurants and Hotels.

The other bonus is that it's right in the Willamette Valley wine region - the centre of great Oregon pinot noir.

I got this shot after landing in TPE onboard an A340. I didn't realise that the Dreamliner was taking off so I'm quite happy it was included in the photo.
