The one minor item you miss if you forget to bring

Another thing I like to pack is a plug in night light for bathroom.

Not all hotels have low light options and honestly, I dont want to hear the complaining from hubby if he should stub his toe so this works for us. I keep it in our toiletry bag so its easy to use/remember.

5-10mts long LAN cable, No need to ask for passwords, LAN the laptop in and sit where I want in most places to use it.

Always travel with a spare lip balm - its the only one that works with me and I normally have at least one in my handbag and a spare, my mindfold blinders, ear plugs, a book or two (which I normally bring home unread...but just in case....).

I never travel without my work leatherman and duct tape....comes in very handy wrapping stuff to take home.
If I go to nz, I'll take my chef and petty knife over....love to cook the mussels and I slice up my own sashimi. Cannot stand a dull knife....

The only time I wear a watch is when travelling. Current time is on the phone and the watch is set to the destination so that I know to go to sleep to fit in with the destination time.

Currently on holiday.... forgot the Citi bank card. (stays in safe at home)
Only use it to get cash out at local ATM’s While overseas.
Now having to move the spending cash from Citi to hubbys ANZ credit card and paying for cash advances.

Not Happy Jan.

(I think he picked it up off the kitchen bench when he put his work credit cards into the safe, but he is not acknowledging this)

A little spray bottle of Isocol. Comes in handy as a prophylactic for any strange tropical growths that may be lurking on the hotel shower floor. Also works as a disinfectant and hand sanitiser.

"What's in your backpack?"

Spare CC including Citi Debit and 28degrees.
Ear plugs
Eye mask
Zip lock bag with qty toilet paper (don't travel in Indonesia without it!).
Lip balm, hand sanitiser and travel toothbrush/paste, all in 1L airport sized ziplock.
Small zip lock bag with basic meds
Pens, pencil, A5 current year diary
Pin generators for various banks

That's my daily use bag 😬. Sounds sort of like a woman's handbag now I list it like that...

Cables case, passport and foreign currency get added when it's time to go os and a bulldog clip will be getting added to my toiletries bag!

So to answer the OP: the minor thing would be the earplugs and eyeshade combo. And definitely only minor as every airline amenity pack has them.

Headphones.

Forgot them on a trip last year (just a short haul o'nighter, nothing big), I missed them immensely.

I like music, and a good soundtrack makes airport time pass quickly.

  • A power board/strip. I only need one adaptor per country then and can power all my devices off the board.
  • Plenty of plastic bags for dirty laundry and shoes.
  • Nail clippers. Always seem to form ingrown nails when I'm travelling and without them it's a pain.

"What's in your backpack?" ..Zip lock bag with qty toilet paper (don't travel in Indonesia without it!).

Yes, come to think of it, toilet paper is another small item I never forget as it's essential in Asia and (not been there recently) South America, and one assumes Africa as well. Quite rare in many of these nations to find other than hotel loos with toilet paper.
