Sadly Wednesday's stay will be my last for the forseeable future - I have been directed to use a suburban "hotel" rather than city hotels for my future trips to MEL (consequently multiple overnights are being converted to day visits - much tougher for me - but I would rather not stay in a Quest.

Check out Wilton Rd. If you walk towards the station, but turn a right (e.g. when you see Argos, take a right, you'll see coffee shops / cafes etc line the street).. you'll see a Sainsbury's down the road, head down that way (towards Pimlico). There's a few good restaurants there. Check out Giraffe, Dim T or there are a few other decent places down there. Depends how much you want to spend and what kind of food you're into! A reasonable selection.
