It's China Southern. Largest fleet and number of passengers flown according to Wikipedia. The main lounge is in Guangzhou (CAN).

Here are a few photos of their international lounge at CAN. They have 2 segregated areas. The best lounge is reserved for first and business class. Then there is a 'standard' lounge that I was shown to. I'm a Dragonair/Cathay Pacific/oneworld status passenger tonight and the China Southern Pearl Club Lounge is KA's designated lounge at CAN.

The 'standard' lounge. Think QP domestic (but with less alcohol, glassware and cutlery).

The first class dining area.

They seem to have a slight insect issue affecting the lovely plastic wine glasses in the 'standard' lounge. :)

Standard lounge hot food offerings (buffet style) are not bad!

There are some packaged items too.

I even found a real glass for some wine. No bubbles on offer though...

I was there last Saturday!! Much like yourself I was directed to the right on entering. (I was on a KA flight too.)

If the KA flight is on time, I could go to a CX first class departure lounge in HKG as I have a connecting CX flight the next morning so would be allowed into the HKIA departures area . The CX arrivals lounge will be closed. Not sure if I can be bothered as I have the airport hotel booked and I'd need to negotiate with HKIA security and customs.

Instead of announcing each departing flight over the PA, a staff member wanders through the lounge and announces it. Several times as it turns out. I can see this seems a bit more personal but I'm not sure if it's less annoying. :)

Update: It seems the PA is used too (or was broken earlier). It's definitely far more annoying! :)
