The Japan Trusted Traveler Program

Hi, would like to check have you got back the results from preliminary inspection yet? As I have submitted mid-November
Preliminary approval came in today - so that's almost exactly 4 months since my application was sent in.

Quick update:
Using the JTTP card for the 1st time in Narita Feb 2025.
Took about 2 mins, plus 5 mins wait for the guy in front.
Very happy.

Tax refund also successful.
Some shops do actually know about this ha ha! Others not so much but after I pointed out the "temporary visitor" thing printed on the back of the card, got the refund no problem.
Note: only bought stuff in Tokyo and Kyoto. I suspect more regional/rural areas might be problematic...

I'm currently sitting at around 70 days waiting for preliminary inspection, it will be interesting to see if they have slowed down even further from the 4 month mark mentioned by @elanshin

Also update, got my card a few weeks back. Took a nap at Haneda after the 5:30am arrival waiting for the office to open. Had to get the passport photos redone (as they won't accept mine). One faulty printer and 35mins later all done. Probably could've been done in 15mins if it wasn't for the printer or passport photo.

At Haneda the landside office is by the departure's check in area near counter A.

Any update on cost? https://www.moj.go.jp/isa/content/001402157.pdf
this linked page say 4000JPY. that's fine but i'd like to come armed with the correct amount.
Also anyone know about where to go in Narita terminal 1, south? Coming in off an ANA flight.
The URL that is meant to tell me this stuff (I suspect) is down- 出入国在留管理庁ホームページ

this seems to explain it-
As of April 1, 2025, the fee for issuing a registered user card (excluding reissuance) will be 4,000 yen (Article 25, item 6 of the Enforcement Order of the Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act, Supplementary Provisions, Paragraph 1 of Cabinet Order No. 27 of 2025).
Even if you submit an application online before March 31, 2025, if you do not actually appear at a designated registration location to request the change, the fee before the revision (2,200 yen) will not be charged (Cabinet Order No. 27 of 2025, Supplementary Provisions, Paragraph 2, Item 5).

And this seems to have more info-

Yikes! That's a big jump.
Apparently KIX has improved a lot re immigration wait times...I need to think about if I want to do it again in 2 years time!

So you'll need this in revenue stamps (収入印紙) - yes need to find a post office and purchase it first if you didn't have them prepared. Alternatively you could go duck your head in and see if they'll accept your passport photo too. If they don't, you'll need to find a machine to take one for you (they can probably tell you the closest one).

The url that was with my previous application no longer works, but i suspect the location at NRT as described earlier in the thread is still the same. Either way they should send you detailed instructions.

Thanks. Sadly they have not- the URL that no longer works is the URL they have sent...

Got my TTP today.

My tips and experience:
Came off ANA T1 South. 8am Elevators to 4th floor and the post office is next to the Starbucks.
Buy your
shūnyū inshi / 収入印紙 (4000JPY worth). Take the elevator just behind you to the 2nd floor and the automated gate registration support office is right there. They seem to open 8-?4? and are land side for ease.

Friendly and helpful chap, was all done in about 30 min from clearing customs.

I did need my ttp registration/application number, credit card, passport, and the stamps. I did not need the photos nor completed forms I printed out.

My other tip is renew your passport in advance. Mine expires next year so I might not get much/any use out of this as my next booked visit is with family.

Quite amusing with mine. Because Westpac's new cards(i applied with a Westpac altitude platinum) no longer says the type of card on it with the minimalist design, the guy had to copy my card then my digital card on my phone because that was the only place that said "platinum" card.

Photocopying a phone screen that wants to turn itself off is amusing to see.

Yeh main reason i waited so long, had to wait for new passport then bank of JP flights.

Well my next trip would be to HND T2 and there's no automatic gates afaik....then the next one is to cough so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Might be able to make one more before it expires mid 2027!
