Where do you see Tiger Airways Australia in 12-24 months?

As much as I would never fly them, if they are flying again next week, then they have satisfied CASA that they are operating to a safe standard. We have to respect that, and be grateful that they are still here to carry the cattle
 
I've personally never flown TT, honestly avioded doing so at every effort and with only 1 route out of ADL it make it easier.
But there is a market for them in Oz, helping young families go place's they thought were out of reach so hope they
get their act together and sort out their safety issues.
 
It would be a pity to see Tiger go, as I find Airways entertaining viewing!

The bogans have to go somewhere, maybe the makers of airways will get in touch with Jetstar. :p

I agree with you. But at the same time, all those young families, are now out of pocket and stuck in other cities because of Tiger's incompetence. I know a fair few friends that have been stuck and had to pay $300 to fly Virgin home because Tiger cancelled their flight, leaving them stuck in Melbourne. The story is becoming more and more common. All I can say is, "You shouldn't have flown Tiger"

On a separate topic. When Tiger cancels a flight. Do you think it is reasonable just to move them to the next flight (Usually in 3-4 days) or give them a refund? I would expect, like QF, JQ and DJ, that TT put everybody up in hotels and pay for their meals. Particularly when its a mechanical error, or a non 'act of god' problem.

I totally agree, it would be great to see them sort out their issues so this doesn't happen and to keep this end of the market open to the sometimes flyer with limited funds. In saying that I think this current issue is going to be very hard to bounce back from.
 
I've never flown TT and I did a search on AFF and was amazed to find the vast number of negative posts about them. Unfortunately TT have no one to blame but themselves. Yep some people just whinge, but there is too much of it to be ignored. TT have been put on notice by the travelling public and by CASA that things need urgent attention and this has been ongoing and I can't believe it has taken so long for action to be taken.

However as a few above have said, there is a place in the Australian aviation market for an airline that consistently offers and delivers economical, reliable and safe flights. Not everyone has a job that offers J class travel as a perk, allows the opportunity for an interstate weekend, or like myself am able to travel J on overseas flights at my own expense.

For many a LCC airline is something that they need for that long awaited holiday, meet up with rellos or an escape from rellos. These guys need and deserve a break too. They don't give a rats about the lounge, priority lanes, preferred seating, being addressed by name, showing off the colour of their luggage tags. They just want the opportunity for an airfare at an affordable price. For what it's worth I've seen some appalling bogans in the business lounge at many Australian airports, so TT doesn't have the monopoly on their custom.

It would be in the interests of the travelling public if TT survives and with its socks pulled up and with the authorities breathing down their necks. It would keep fares down for those who travel on other airlines. Don't forget the other airlines in Australia have come in for their fair share of warranted criticism in these forums as well.

Sorry to whinge but some people need to be given a break.

I want Tiger to stay, they are of use.

I suspect the 'safety' issues are really under staffing issues, and they are just finding out Mexican hat games
and 'tick a box' have been found out and not allowed.

The international aspect of Tiger connections are interesting. I flew twice on intnl connections at promo rates, but Tiger would NEVER take responsibility for missed flights caused by their delay, and money wise real poor value considering the alternatives.

Therefore I say they have to change, and be no worse than Jetstar. If they want stay flying,they will have to
calm masses of hurt out there.
 
I hope Tiger stay around, Not because I will ever fly with them, purely because they keep up low-cost competition. I'm worried that if they go, airline prices will rise as there isn't that ultra low-cost option.

I also hope Tiger get through this an remain a viable third domestic carrier.

History shows where the Australian market consists of a duopoly the public looses out.

At the same time, I hope Tiger lifts it's customer focus, so the not so experienced traveller, usually a battler does not end up in a pickle!

The differences we do notice are - hopeless call centre availability & horrible conditions in their baggage handling area at Tullamarine. We buy flights on sale & get more than our money's worth so once their safety issues are dealt with we hope to fly with them again.

Isn't that always the case though? Easier to criticise something you haven't experienced ;)

I nearly flew them a year ago, but something came up so didn't, and didn't lose much money from the experience obviously. As for their future, I'd like to see them back as they are good for criticising :p and do help a number of people here get low price beat fares on JQ.

When I fly out of MCY where TT has been a choice,I usually need to be somewhere.cant afford to be significantly delayed.Have seen with my own eyes whilst awaiting JQ or DJ flights the delays or cancellations that TT have.As well they did not have daily services.I cant afford to take the risk of flying with them.Sorry but not flying with them doesn't mean i cant critiscise.

I only started doing that after 4 sectors, as I'm now convinced that I'll never arrive anywhere on time.

The TR (SIN-based) experience is quite a bit better in comparison, although admittedly, still not how I would like to travel.

I don't need to try something to decide it will be a poor experience. Take haggis for example. :mrgreen:

I've seen enough Tiger stranded/left behind/missed the cut off passengers to know they aren't the airline for me.

I tried that last year in Queenstown, probably one of the furthest places from where it's best tried, and actually quite liked it. I was pleasantly surprised. I doubt though that you'd be pleasantly surprised on Tiger. Perhaps just surprised.
