I'm aware of this fee but it's still worth it imo. Otherwise $250 gets you 500 points. This way you are getting 50k!

yes I was aware of that fee, and yes ouchy, not worith it for me out of prinicpal,

I assume the velocity transfer will work,

also I just got my bonus points even though the annual fee hasnt been paid, ive only had the card for about 10 days,'
with my other explorer account I needed to pay the fee to get the bonus points, oh well,

I might see if I can transfer it all out before the annual fee is due

Actually $250 would get you 10,000 Ascent Points. So $250 for 50,000 points I agree is still worth it.

Well i managed to transfer my friends 100000k ascent poiints to their velocity
Then over to mine.
Tranfer completed within 24 hrs
75000 velocity point's

Going to cancel the card on monday.
Havebt been chsrged the annual fee yet

Hope i can get it cancelled without paying it
Havent used the travel credit.

Another data point for people trying to convert Gateway points to Ascent.

I called on a Sat arvo on 1300 132 639, spoke to an Aussie lady "Rebecca" about something unrelated (travel credit not showing up). She was the one who suggested I convert Explorer to earn Ascent points!

Hmmm I didn't know when the next bonus is.

Also I'm trying to cancel the card before the annual fee charge comes in to play as I would have struggled to use the $400 credit.
I was trying to arrange with friends for me to book their hotel for them and they pay me back

You purchase at the rate of $25 per 1000 points. To buy you need to call. I am not sure if there is an official maximum.

Were you able to transfer among velocity within the T+Cs or have you been a little 'creative' with the relationship? I couldn't find a way to legitimately move my mate's amex points to me.

Just FYI for everyone. Apparently got told that the annual fee will be charged even if you cancel straight away.

Not q100% convinced as the rep spent ages trying to convince us to stay and asking us why we were leaving and came up with excuses every second.

We will probably keep it and use the travel credit

Applied while the bonus was up and approved. My first ever CC actually. Looking forward to it arriving, is there anywhere I should be reading to learn any particular quirks/tricks about this card/AMEX gateway in general?

If you've read the thread properly you would know that some have had their fee refunded in full or pro rata up to 6 months in. Some have even used their travel credit as well
