There are so many ways you can use your points and I was thinking about the best things I have done with my points. This got me curious to what is the best or nicest things other people have done with their points. My top 3 are:

* The priest at the local church was celebrating his diamond jubilee and was invited back to his original church in Europe to receive an award. The church was collecting donations to fly him back. I used points to fly him to Europe and back in J with SQ.

* A close family friend of my grandparents was turning 90 and was upset that his two good friends whom live in MEL could not come to SYD for the 90th birthday celebrations, due to the cost of travel and their age. So, I flew them to SYD with VA in J.

* Taking my wife to Hong Kong with SQ in suites.

Whilst the last was a great experience and was truly enjoyable, the first two brought me more joy.

What are other members experiences on the best /nicest things you have done with points?

The lack of replies to a great thread proves that you are kinder that the average bear. Well done. ;)

I just booked a return trip to London in CX J to take my Mum back home for the first time since she emigrated in the late 60s, and her first trip in Business as well.

I'm currently in the process of booking SQ J to HKT for my sister's (and her new husband's!) honeymoon. She knows the flights are coming but is completely unaware that they're in J! :D

I once sent eldest daughter and beau on an 11000km round Australia honeymoon including PER, BME, AYQ, CNS & BNE for 75000 qff points. (Also paid for accomodation)

Have moved family and friends in the style they would like to be permanently accustomed to for the rest of their lives. Seeing excited faces when they realize the travel class I have booked them has been priceless. I just take the view that points/miles are best used than stored. I did have to get a school enrolled niece to promise not to let on each time she flew SQ Suites with her mother.

About 6 months ago I surprised my wife by booking her return flight from SIN in EK F. We were skyping two days prior when she asked which seat I had allocated her. The look on her face when I casually said "1A" was priceless!

Flew my Mum QF F LHR-MEL return. Experience of a lifetime after doing it in Y previously.

Booked award flights for mum twice SYD-ATH once in SQ economy using Amex MR points once in TG business using US Dividend miles.

Also used QFF points to book economy Oneworld award for dad when we went to ATH via USA/Canada and returned via Asia.

oh ... by the way, this was in Business class; back then it was 37½K per PAX.

I upgraded the secretary at work and her best friend on the dom leg of their USA trip. She really has been a lifesaver and makes such a difference to my life at work, I just wanted to give her something nice. They absolutely loved every minute of it too.

In return I got stuck in Las Vegas and had a friend get me out pretty quickly with his points/status via his Delta connections. What goes around comes around.

In 2013 I spent up large on AAdvantage miles and took myself and CD Snr from WLG (after flying there in J from DRW) to DUB via MEL/DXB/LHR all in J with QF/BA, then spent a week in Ireland with him. To say he was happy was an understatement, apart from his complaint to the CSM on the A380 that the solitaire wasn't nearly as good as on the one on the 738 TT leg!
