The Aussie dunny roll debacale on AFF - the rush to rebook flights

I have no status with SQ. And without status, my fare alone is good enough to select any seat in the cabin.

For most passengers, acting quickly is the key to minimising disruption and keeping an itinerary on track.

SQ is different. I also have zero status, but can easily secure suites to anywhere, almost at will - but of course it depends on how many points you want to spend. If you're a bottom dweller, these days you get bugger all in suites with SQ!

Their market is complete different v QF - 100% International, that's another differential that needs to be taken into account.

1/2 right. A) fly more with $$$ and build status, B) take your business elsewhere and be free and happy - simples.

Exactly, now as VA also preference status members like QF so domestically you may chose from two other options :)

Behind door one we have Jetstar!
Yes - they may cancel with no notice due to ongoing industrial action and running their planes with 20 second turnaround means any delay anywhere at anytime means big delays and cancellations all over the place - but all pax are equal!

Behind door two is Tiger!
Yes they were grounded for safety issues, yes they cancel if a butterfly flaps it’s wings in Antartica and yes their on time performance is lower than the score of a two year old taking a med school exam - but all pax are equal!

I had to call Hawaiian to do a cancellation yesterday and it took a 90 minute wait to speak with anyone. The fatigue in the agents voice came through loud and clear. The most annoying aspect of the wait was the constant recording telling me I could do changes online for free - which no I could not - I would have been happy to do it all online if possible. However as the flight was only 36 hours in the future I had to call then. It's certainly put me off making any other bookings more than a day or two in advance.

Well most, in J R11 is usually blocked for PPS and above.

The good news seems to be those restrictions are becoming less and less. I’ve been able to select row 11 (a380 and 77w) for the last year or so, well in advance of travel (two-three months or longer, at time of booking). This might be redoute dependent, but MEL and LHR have been good.
