That connection is going to be tight QF!

This is a great outcome. I had a good experience recently where I was able to change to a direct BNE-DXB following an equipment change that saw us lose the A380 on our BKK-DXB sector of a SYD-BKK-DXB. We'd specifically booked our flights to get the A380, so I was impressed that the woman who helped me was willing to re-accommodate. A few less SCs, but don't need them and can now leave for the airport at 6pm instead of 1pm.

On a less positive note, dropped my parents off at BNE for a BNE-MEL domestic flight that was connecting to QF9 a few weeks ago. They had a 1:30 connection time, which was valid/legal, but we were early at BNE so I asked if they could go on the earlier flight to MEL. The woman on premium check-in could not have been less helpful, simply stating that they did not have a flexible ticket. I didn't push the issue, but I did feel like pointing out that if the BNE-MEL flight they were on was delayed/cancelled (it was the last flight of the day), it was going to cost Qantas a lot more money to rebook them then moving them to an earlier flight on a non-flexible ticket!

Such a shame that Qantas still has a few staff with the "can't be bothered" attitude as it really lets down those who go above and beyond.

They do pretty much enforce the flexibility of the ticket given they are a premium price to the sale ticket - even for premium flyers. Otherwise why would people pay more? They do hold planes if there are slight delays and get these people off quickly which is easy to do in Melbourne and Adelaide. Sydney - not easy at all.

Next week we are flying Sing -Dubai with Emirates on QF8353 with a connection time of 65 minutes to hook up with QF8149 to Amsterdam. The Singapore flight has a recent history of being late. Emirates wont put us on a earlier flight(hour and half earlier) and is no later flight from Singapore.
Question i have is, okay they put us up o'nite in Dubai and we fly next day. But who compensates us for our lost nites accom in Amsterdam, their comment was claim on your insurance. But who pays our insurance excess? Any comments.

My sister and her family recently had a 1hr transfer in Sydney with QF (which she was stressing about) on their way to South Africa. It all worked out fine, however it really doesn't leave much time for error.

You’ll need to pay any excess.

So through no fault of our own, even though we tried to swap to the earlier flight, we may loose out....oh well...keeping fingers crossed that all flights are on time... thanks Pushka

You never know what arrangements EK will make - they might put you on another flight to Europe with a connection from there to AMS. Airlines don't usually reaccommodate pax on the possibility of a late inbound, even if historically the inbound is late. They might do it on the day of departure at the airport, if it's obvious the flight is going to be late (ie route you direct to AMS).
