I think this site is awesome.

Having read a recent thread I became aware bookings I made with aa for upcoming trip reflect my old status of ows. Looking forward to experience flounges on trip and just assummed when I booked in, my new status would be reflected. Whilst reading the thread I became aware this isn't always the case.

So made p/call to qf today and they are sending off email with reservations and new status to aa.

Thanks to all who are willing to ask the questions, share their experiences and those who give the answers. :D

As a side note, particularly looking forward to taking my son into the sydney flounge on our way to dfw and sharing the experience.

How can I check my OWS on my AA booking?\
Ferni, I'm sure the experts here will give you the right information. My experience was when I booked I was ows and it showed on my original booking that I printed out. I had no idea where to go on the oz. aa site to check if status now was platinum, hence call to qf with aa reservation number to advise aa to change my status. Hope this helps.

Bring yon booking up on AA.com and see if yiou can select exit row seats - if you can then status has carried.

Im flying F so no sure that works ;) plus just to clarify when I said ows I meant one world status which is emerald. Any other way? I think I saw "sph" on one of the emails sent to me originally with the itin but would like to check again if it's possible?

In reality if you are already flying in the highest class cabin then status matters little in the ordinary course of events.

I agree. Awesome site, great ideas. Thanks everyone.

Yeah fair enough, was just wondering if there was an easy way to check my OW status on AA website...

Related - I was travelling in AA econ earlier this year when I was OW Sapphire and I could (and did) pick exit row - so not don't think this is a OW Emerald thing?

It has been a while but a few years ago I had fun with my status carrying through/not carrying through to AA flights. Will be interesting to see if this is fixed next time round.

Having the same issue (booked flights on aa.com as a QF SG, recently made QF WP), I just tried to do what you did. QF Plat help desk said: "Sorry, nothing we can do. Your status should carry over on your membership number."

I'm bringing my card with me definitely, but will await what happens in LAX, YYZ and JFK...

So turns out it actually did matter that my AA boarding passes said Saphire and not Emerald... Trying to get into the flagship lounge at LAX they tried to deny me as my boarding pass said I was only sapphire .. Even after I showed my QF Plat card with Emerald status she said "but your status may not be valid anymore" She then checked with the Qantas lady sitting 5 meters away who confirmed if I was plat they should let me in... and she did...I commented there is probably an issue between QF and AA that statuses dont always come across correctly she insisted she was looking at QF system and it said I was sapphire...she was very apologetic as I was leaving..... no big deal, really just wanted to see what the flagship lounge was like.. the mrs commented she was disappointed after I had taken her into the QF F lounge, she was expecting similar :)

I am sitting in the qf combined dfw club waiting to return to Oz. All through this trip, my status still showed saphire, showed my card with emerald, no problems with flounge, through the clubs in states that did have a flounge plus T3 LHR.
Appears, like in most things, depends on person one is interacting with.

I guess only in the USA when flying AA out of JFK/LAX/ORD that Status can indeed matter.

I'm confused, did the Qantas agent check your status?
