According to @airlineroute @thaiairways plans a Dreamliner service to PER

During the week of 03FEB14′s OAG Schedules Analyser update, THAI has listed planned Boeing 787 operation, due to start from 01JUL14. Initially the 787 aircraft would operate service on Bangkok – Perth daily flight, followed by Bangkok – Tokyo Haneda from 01AUG14.

Note these flights are currently displaying in OAG, and not reflected in the GDS, therefore reservation for service to Perth continues to display Airbus A330 while Tokyo Haneda (new 2nd daily flight) is not listed in the inventory.

Proposed Boeing 787 schedule as follow.

Bangkok – Perth
TG483 BKK2359 – 0745+1PER 787 D
TG484 PER0915 – 1515BKK 787 D

Bangkok – Tokyo Haneda
TG682 BKK2245 – 0655+1HND 787 D
TG683 HND1035 – 1505BKK 787 D

TG682/683 is the new 2nd daily service announced on the airline’s Japanese website, scheduled to be operated by A330 from 30MAR14. Reservation for this second daily service will be opened at a later date.

Interesting, I will believe it when I see it. Maybe they will operate it every second Thursday and Tuesdays during full moon weeks. For those not familiar, TG are famous for chopping and changing aircraft type, but too be fair I think this has stabilized more recently.

Just booked a US Dividend Miles trip and it appears we have the 787 on our return flights back from BKK to PER. Hopefully stays as the 787!

Reservations are now open for this service from July 1 according to Airline Route

Markis10 do you know if TG will be retiring A330 birds when these 787's come? How many 787's does TG have on order?

Why would they be retiring the A330s, unless you mean A300s? Thai have 8 B787s on order, all leased.

I've flown the TG 777-200 J many times but was surprised the one time I flew a TG A330 J from KIX-BKK about how much more angled the seat is compared with the 777-200. While they initially look the same I found it much harder to sleep on the A330 vs the 777-200 (despite very low loads) because the angle seemed much sharper.

I would actively avoid the A330 for overnight flights. Perhaps TG is phasing them out for this reason?

AFAIK there are no plans for phasing out the A330s, on the A300s for obvious reasons.

The TG A330's that they send to KHI/LHE/ISB are almost 20 years old.. That's why I thought it could be time for them to go! I haven't flown that specific J product but it doesn't look great.

Most of the regional configured a330 are replacing domestic and short haul A300 flights. The A300 will be gone in the next year. No a330 going just yet.

I booked a life miles return trip but unfortunately only the PER-BKK leg is 787. Return has old 330 angled flats :-( Hopefully Thai change the aircraft at the last minute!
