Thai Air interline with qf codeshare

I have a flight Bkk-SYD-Mel on emirates (qf8418 code share). However work has landed me in HK. So I need to buy a fare hk to Bkk to then connect to my home flight.

Thai airways have a flight which will give me a 2 hour connection in Bkk, but will they interline my bags on a codeshare like that?

Or is cathay a better Option with a 4 hour stop over?
