Dinner at Yarri. The chef was formally at Leewin Estate - left that to start this joint. Restaurant was very full on a Monday night

A fixed menu with a 'special' that we took, 600g rib eye on the bone ( to share) cut up before serving.

We had a bottle of Mt Barker Reisling and a Frankland estate Shiraz with all that.

Very satisfied!

Back in Perth after a great couple of days hosted by @JohnM touring some of the iconic Margaret River wine estates. Thank you John! 😊

And thank you WA Health for providing light relief: see my post here:

Staying tonight at the Ramada Vetro Blue at Scarborough Beach ( that is, unless WA Health decide that I should have been in quarantine aftet all and come to get me 🙄). New and pretty nice - a SC one bedroom apartment. Would be an excellent base for a few days on the beach.

Great dinner at Shadow with cove, daver6 and JohnM; steady was a late scratching.

Only several of the shared entree plates

Started with a 2009 Howard Park Reisling, to compare with the '14 and '21 we tasted at the winery the other day. Excellent.

Then onto these progressively.

All unknown to me and greatly enjoyed.

No pics of the duck for mains, nor the cheese board, which disappointed.

Brunch this morning with JohnM and PJM at Floreat Beach. PERfect. There, I said it. 😊.

Now in 1C on B737 waiting for push back on my way back home. I forgot to apply for a Tas permit until I was leaving the QP. 😱. But easy-peasy. A few days home and then off to Bris-vegas, borders permitting. I'm told Tasmania looks 'floundering' from there. 🙄 We'll see. 😊

Lunch arranged in Brisbane next week at some fish 'n chip ( sorry, poisson-frites) joint that's been recommended:

One of the reasons I keep grumbling about Hobart Airport.

Loading of pax needing assistance takes about 20 mins ( for 1) and they don't start this 'early'. Not complaining about the pax of course, just the wretched lack of airbridges, use of narrow, one way ramps ( or stairs) etc.

Even though the aircraft and crew were in Hobart overnight, we'll be leaving late.

Hey at least HBA has the ramps !!! Launceston only has the stairs :mad:

Just had a very nice lunch with @TheRealTMA @boomy and @Buzzard at La Cache au Vin in Spring Hill. Magnifique! Thanks TRTMA for suggestion. All French wine, so I just went with the flow, but I even liked the Chardonnay 😊

Shared escargots and foie gras to start

Then we all had duck which was superb

Then two cheese selections. I was a bit disappointed in these. I had a Pedro Ximenez which was fantastic. Bestive had.
