For those with a general interest in aviation, make sure you get yourself to Temora for one of their biannual flying days. They have smaller events every couple of weeks, and you normally see three or four of their aircraft flying. Earlier this year we saw the Wirraway, Boomerang, Spitfire and Meteor on a mini fly day. Small crowd but great show.
This time it was their big show, and a tremendous array of aircraft. The RAAF had a Hercules on the ground, and the Roulettes, C17, 737 AWACs, and F18 in the air. HARS had the Caribou, Dakota, and Catalina performing. The list of flying displays is really too long to list here, but the Russian Roolettes (!), Corsair, Spitfire(s), Mustang(s), Warhawk, and Sabre were just a few of the wonderful aircraft that were shown in their element. Matt Hall also put on a display to be remembered...when he did Pilots' course they must have had a very different take on aerodynamics, as he makes an aircraft do things that seem impossible.
The whole thing was started by David Lowy, and he personally puts on a very good display in an A-37.
Whilst there was a large crowd, it was very well controlled, and it was no problem getting a good view, no matter how late you arrived.
Great day...add it to the bucket list.
