Looks like flights in and out of Gove will be cancelled tomorrow. The BoM are saying it is possible Darwin may get a direct hit on Monday.

Due to Cyclone Monica, travel to and from Gove in the Northern Territory may be affected.

Refer to the Arrivals and Departures pages for up-to-date flight information. If you have any questions regarding your booking, call Qantas on 13 13 13.

For further information on the cyclone, visit the Bureau of Meteorology website. This website will be continually updated with information should the situation change.

The following outlines the options available to Qantas passengers who are holding a valid ticket on Qantas for travel on or before 23 April 2006 and who wish to make changes to their bookings.

Cyclone spares Darwin, but threatens WA

Cyclone Monica has spared Darwin and has weakened to a tropical low, but may intensify again before menacing Western Australia.

Monica was packing winds of up to 350kph near its core when it touched down on Monday night at Maningrida, in the far north of the Northern Territory.

However, the former category five cyclone significantly weakened once it made landfall.

It had potential to be a lot worse! It is a shame many Anzac day events were cancelled.

The satellite photos looked like it would have caused a lot of damage had it come ashore closer to Darwin. There will still be a lot of flooding though.
