The first time I used his services, that was the starting point.
After that, I think I have simply paid whatever he - or one of his network - have charged.
Sometimes, it's a meter reading. Sometimes a fixed rate.

It always seems good value to me.

This weekend I have been let down twice with a booking on this phone number. On Saturday the driver was quarter of an hour late after the time I had booked. Today no-one arrived at all and I had to re-book with a standard Silver Top taxi, and so arrived late at my destination. Now I have another booking for tomorrow and calls on 0426 267 900 are going to recorded messages and not being answered, even 2-3 hours later.

Is anyone else in Melbourne experiencing problems? I've been in hospital for two months with ophthalmic shingles, plus osteoporosis, so at present am dependent on taxis to get anywhere.

When +61 or a country code is used there is no 0 before the 4

Similarly also there is no 0 before the area code if +61 is used . For example
+61 3 9876 5432 is 03 9886 5432

Think of a mobile number as a number with area code 04:
+61 4 2626 9700 or 04 2626 9700


It is actually better to insert the +61 or country code for phone numbers in because you can ring from anywhere in the world without editing the number while overseas

As a reference, I can now compare this to Uber. Amit's quote was 25-30% extra compared to UberX/Green and 10% to Uber Comfort. I'm yet to ride and am looking forward to my trip.

Utilised Jimmy's taxi service again yesterday - always 5 star and I'm more than happy to pay a bit extra and support local business.

I'm still having trouble getting through to Jimmy's number. The answering machine allows only the very briefest of messages and they don't ring me back. Is it because I'm phoning from a landline number, not a mobile? And what's the optimum time to book ahead?
