So, I'm aware that Airpoints Dollars are treated like cash, with 1 Airpoints Dollar worth $1 towards the cost of a ticket.
On domestic NZ bookings, you can use Airpoints to cover the entire fare including taxes. But on international bookings, you have to pay for any taxes/charges using cash.
My specific question is, for international flights, do you still need to have enough Airpoints in your account to cover the entire fare + taxes if you want to pay with Airpoints? Or is it sufficient if you just have enough Airpoints to cover the base fare?
E.g. if the base fare is $300 and the total ticket price is $400 (with $100 taxes), do you need to have 400 Airpoints in your account to be able to make the booking? I found this to be the case a few years ago (which is pretty bad), but not sure if this has changed?
