Does this seem right? I wanted to make a booking through Enrich, flying Qantas, Perth to Melb business class one way, and the
guy on the phone told me the taxes would be $253.00. Qantas taxes are on about $35.00. I understand flying international, taxes are
always high with the Asian airlines, but Australia?
I told the guy the difference with Qantas, and he just laughed.

I cant add much except that I've always found MH fares to be very low but their taxes exceedingly high. I just assumed it was a Malaysia government thing.

Fuel fines has nothing to do with taxes. It fully depends on each airline and how much they wanna charge. The airline that charges fuel fines is the airline that issue the ticket (ie, the one you redeem points with) not the one operating (ie. the one you fly with).

Best example is, QFF impose fuel fines on all it's redemptions but not American Airlines, even if you book the exact same flight.

I wouldn't use Enrich points to redeem one world partners as it is very expensive compare to redeem MH flights
