Has anyone bought these e-gift cards from Target before? Trying to work out whether this is a good option to avoid the AMEX surcharge (from flight centre or from the tour company directly). Will I have any problems buying 10k worth?

You'd be better off buying them from Woolworths or Big W using WISH gift cards that have been purchased with a 5% discount to offset the activation fee. That's what I do.

Yes, good point. That approach will get me over 15,000 points more too (Edge).

Worth remembering can't use CC travel insurance with the giftcard method

This is commonly done. You may come across a flight centre that objects because of the number of cards you wish to use and the low denomination of the cards.

Thanks - using giftcards for the tour. Flights (to be booked as released) purchased with ff points (so will need a separate travel insurance product to protect anyway).

Already warned the local flight centre how we were paying - they had a good sense of humour about it.

Earlier in the year Woollies had 20% off flight centre gift cards. Using the egift card 5% to buy them was a very good deal! I took about 20 cards in to pay for a cruise with cruisabout (flight centre) and I sat with the consultant and read out the numbers to make it easier on her :)

I'm hoping they will have another Flight Centre gift card promotion, the last one was in March. I need to pay my next trip off in January, so would be handy if another promo came up soon.
