It's great. We always use it if travelling around by train as some do not have much room for large cases.Very efficient and to us well worth the price. We will be using it again in 3 weeks time.Travelling by train for 9 days so packing changes of clothes into our carryons.our suitcase will be sent from NRT where we are arriving to KIX where we will be leaving for Okinawa.
It's great to arrive at a hotel and have the bags already in your room when you checkin.

There is usually a desk at better hotels or the concierge will arrange it.
At airports it is the airline services we use.So on our next trip we are flying JAL.So drop our bag at the JAL airline baggage service with request to pick up at the JAL service in KIX.

They have counters at airport?.
And they come to your hotel to pickup?

With the hotel pick up - you need to book it with the Concierge - usually the day before you want it picked up. They give you a time to have the cases there, They fill in a form in quadruplicate :D, label the cases, you get a copy, pay the fee, and you see the case at the designated hotel and time. Dont lose your copy - the japanese are sticklers for paper work ;) Super japanese efficiency :D:D. We have done it several times, and it makes travelling around Japan so easy. We can highly recommend it. We have had NO problems.

You can send to various addresses - so hotels, airbnbs, etc. You can also takkyubin your belongings to airports and pick-up there.

I've been using takkyubin for decades and have never had any issues at all. Wouldn't ever anticipate any either.

On Honshu if sent early use same day.latest should be next day.We have often been given a time bags must be dropped for our requested time of delivery.the only 2 day delivery was from Osaka I think to Hokkaido.

In the last year or so Ta-Q-Bin had a baggage length limit of 170cm so if it's a ski bag you're sending that could be a problem. There are alternative delivery services at NRT and one of these was able to deliver my longer bag. Also, delivery times can blow out to as much as a week if there's heavy snow.

All that said, they are usually extremely reliable and our bags are always waiting for us when we arrive in our hotel/airport.

Thanks

You remember how long it took for skibag to get from NRT to skilodge?
There are no excuses on powder day.

I usually leave my bag at NRT and it can be at my hotel in Hokkaido within 48h in most cases. On the trip this year there was extreme amounts of snow in a very short time and they said it may take up to a week however my gear was there when I arrived 3 days later.
