Hi,
I accidentally booked a cheap fare through etihad which turned out to be a T class fare. Apparently T class fares don't earn any points or status credits. I tried calling etihad and offered to pay the difference to a more expensive fare that would earn points and status but they wanted to charge me $200 per person to change. Anyone else had this problem before? I think its a bit unfair if I want to upgrade my fare class that they want to charge $400 for 2 people.

Were the fare fees and conditions available on booking?

Unfortunately a lot of cheap fares (regardless of carriers) have little flexibility in terms of changes, and charge accordingly.

The same thing happened to my sister last month flying SYD - DUB. You don't get miles nor can you use points to upgrade to business.

Funnily enough the flight back from DUB was overbooked and she was actually upgraded to business for the entire trip back!
