System glitch or devaluation?

I just got off the phone with US DM making a redemption.

Booked a HKG-JFK return on CX F for November and as usual, I called in expecting to pay 120k. However the system was pricing the itinerary at 180k which is really weird because it is such a simple itinerary with only 2 flights, no stopovers, connections or open jaw so there isn't much room for 'error'.

Anyway, the agent put me on hold several times and checked the award charts etc. to confirm that the ticket should be 120k so I ended up getting it manually priced and ticketed at 120k.

I have been informed this is a system glitch but the timing is just too convenient for me to not suspect that this may be a potential devaluation that they have planned but not yet announced/implemented. Hopefully this is just me being paranoid though and it really is a genuine glitch.

It would be interesting to hear some other people's feedback on whether anyone has similar experiences anytime soon.
