Sydney Transit Arrangements

Hi All FF'ers,

In Dec my family is travelling Perth to Nadi via Sydney (QF for Perth to Sydney, and Air Pacific for Sydney to Nadi) using FF points. We have a seven hour layover in Sydney. A friend of ours who lives in Sydney says that with the new security arrangements we wouldn't be able to join her for a coffee in The Rocks without unchecking our luggage. Is this true?

If we have to make our own way from the domestic terminal to the international terminal (I presume that we would have to), how will QF know that we have taken a side-trip into the city?

Completely untrue. You can do what you like for the 7 hours

Provided your flights are on time, and you are able to get a taxi from the domestic terminal you should be able to spend several hours at the rocks given that its only a 20min taxi ride (depending on day travelled and traffic etc)
