If you could only choose one leg in business class (the other in economy), would you rather Sydney to New York in premium or your flight back from New York to Sydney? And why?

I haven't flown Sydney to New York in QF before, only in CX economy.

In terms of flight experience, I'm looking at service, flight times and lounge comparison.

I agree, a premium cabin on the return flight is always something to look forward to, and a nice way to end your travel.

As Serfty says - Westbound for sure. The timings are right for sleep vs the east bound departures and the benefit of the flat (or maybe drooping) bed definitely worth it specially for the longer transpac hop.

For me, it would also depend on what my post-arrival travel plans were.

If I needed to dive straight into some activities after getting into New York, but had a day or so to recover after flying back to Sydney, I'd probably go for the business class seat for the outbound leg to feel more fresh upon arrival in New York.

On the other hand, if I had to go straight to work upon returning to Sydney but didn't have much planned for my first day or so in New York, I might appreciate the extra rest business class affords for the return leg.
