Hi,

I'm going to Auckland in a few weeks from Sydney and thought I'd take advantage of the LAN Chile business class deal ($700 return). A good QF status run.

I tried booking through the LAN website but it now quotes over $1100 for the flights.

Expedia and Zuji still quote $700. Interesting as to why the difference?

Anyway I don't particularly like the early departure from Auckland for the return flight on LAN.

So I was wondering if you can mix the fare to business to Auckland and economy back to Sydney on another carrier (preferably QF)?

I tried booking one way fares but of course they sky rocket in price.

Can you mix this fare with LAN/QF and still receive a good price? I can't find a site that will let you try it...

Thanks

I found that looking on the US (or 'Other Countries') site, and being quoted in US dollars, was the way to get the same cheap prices (~AU$650).

Not sure if that breaks some T&Cs somewhere, but last time I looked that was the way to go...

I don't think you will find any online website allowing you to mix business/class economy airfares on the one booking.

I used example of travelling 19 April. If you go the US website for LAN and select a one-way SYD-AKL in business the airfare is USD579.61 which is ~AUD640. Expedia is quoting AUD631 for the same flight. You then should be able to book a one-way AKL-SYD in economy from the QF New Zealand website.

I booked last month using the other countries site in US$ and it came through on my credit card a little under A$700. Was happy considering what the Aussie version of the site charges.

I recently booked this on the Australian website for about A$750ish.

Something to be aware of with this fare is that, whilst still I class, the ticket rules sometimes come up as requiring a $100 fare for changes. Mostly the changes are free but occasionally this little gotcha crops up.

Yes Bill even if I pay in another currency or login from a non aus site the changes are still AUD100?

As they say........go figure????

As I posted.

The changes to my AKL-SYD-AKL flight which was originally paid in $A were $NZ as it was a NZ based fare so they do not always charge in $US.

I originally booked online, but there was some issue with payment! I could only "fix" it by telephoning the given number; after several attempts and long waits I got to speak to someone who then rebooked my trip and charged me USD. It worked out about AUD50.00 cheaper than the original online fare. Almost worth the interminable wait!

Pedro did mention the USD100 change fee.
