Wouldn't it have been simpler to merely keep her big mouth firmly shut and avoid antagonizing security staff? I've found it better to not argue with security, immigration or customs officials because they can make your life quite miserable, as this unfortunate family has found out.

I would certainly not go around insulting the leader of any nation when I was seeking entry to their country. In some places (North Korea, Belarus, possibly Uzbekistan, and a few others) such behaviour could see you disappear for a long, long time... Perhaps forever.

Why argue politics with total strangers in a foreign land. And never insult political leaders, spiritual leaders or monarchs both verbally and written.

If unsure of the type of penalties one faces just ask Harry Nicolaides what he has endured in Thailand for the past 5 months although he may end up getting a pardon since he pleaded guilty.
