Sydney Hilton - Booked Junior Suite - Diamond Upgrade from there?

Has anybody had any luck getting your diamond upgrade from a Junior suite to something better. Last time I didn't receive anything and didn't ask bur staying there again this weekend, this time with Mrs eric2011, and it would be nice to receive it.

Was it offered voluntarily or did you have to fight for it

I often do a dummy online check in (don't complete) the day before or in the morning before arrival to see what is up.

Yes so do I and if the upgrade is showing I then do the OLCI.

OK so I decided to message them via the message hotel tab in the Hilton app and recieved the standard "we do our upgrades on the day of arrival" BS. Now I look at my stay and see it has changed from what I booked (Junior suite) to an Executive suite. Has any one stayed recently in an Exec suite and is it much of an upgrade or downgrade to a junior suite.

@eric2011 the hotel has been renovated and some of the room names seemed to have changed. Looking at the current room photos on the Hilton site I have stayed in both these types of rooms pre renovation. Looking at the new photos I preferred what is now call the Executive suite as the living space was more open and the bathroom was seperate. In what is called the Junior suite the bath tub was out in the open and has slide out frosted glass doors to enclose it. Looking at the new photos both room types have changed to seperate the living room from the bedroom. As a reference these are some photos of room types prior to the renovation and what they may be called now.

I was always told if you wanted a suite upgrade you needed to book a relaxation room ( now junior suite). This is not guaranteed especially if staying over a Friday or Saturday night but that was your best chance. For me this hotel was always out of my budget for anything above the base room so just took my chances which where usually 50/50 but did depend on who was doing the upgrades.

I thought they may give you the suite which used to be a relaxation suite with the spa in the end of the bathroom. Is the executive suite got the separate bathroom with a bath on one wall and the shower across from it.

In the past I would notice an upgrade the day before which sometime changed again on the day if they had left over suites.

Yes your description is right, the entrance to the bathroom is right next to the bed so with the room dark you can’t have a light on in the bathroom overnight because there is a glass panel in the door. Last time I booked the junior I received nothing. I had to ask this
