I'm posting from SYD F Lounge (QF113 is delayed due to late arrival of the aircraft). The Chilli pork was absolutely divine. I asked for the recipe - was politely told no! :(

The Tattinger was the best Champage - Veuve Cliquot is a close second (sipping one right now).

If you are on this flight - say hello to me in seat 1C.

I had an amazing green pork curry there back in December. Seems Pork is popular there :)

I know notzac thinks i'm mad, but I am not a fan of Taittinger. It's too dry for me. On the ground, give me a Perrier Jouët any day ;)

I'm surprised that QF009 hasn't added his bit into this champaign discussion!

He generally doesn't post when sober... :)

But yeah, he's got the miles and the flutes under his belt. I am KEENLY looking forward to the book he's going to write about the high life.

I was in the F Lounge today on the way over to Auckland and I'd like to report that it was as good as ever... the place never fails to put a smile on my face... =)

I'm heading through on Friday - the first time I've been there in roughly a year, so looking forward to it. Was there a particular dish on the menu or a drink you enjoyed?

I will be there tomorrow arvo - last visit was in may. I'm looking forward to the Tattinger. I will post the memorable dishes tomorrow.

I really loved the Peking Duck consomme the other day.

I did SYD FL for lunch (JQ Flight) Followed by MEL FL for dinner. Needless to sau I did not need to eat on the plane.

There have been some changes to the menu and wine list. I had the Jamon Iberico for entree and Lamb Sous Vide for mains for lunch yesterday. Both were exceptional and highly recommended. The Scarborough Chardonnay (blue label) has now been replaced by the Yering Station Chardonnay. The Yering Station Chardonnay was not too bad. I remember when they used to have the Gold Label Scarborough Chardonnay - that was a splendid drop.

The wife & I used the SYD F lounge for the first time ever in late July.

We had the eggs benedict and fully breakfast (I'm sure its not the correct name for it) and some pancakes.

The meals were awesome and I'm totally addicted to trying to get back in there!

Yum yum.

I'm going there on Saturday for the first time. I'm going to be in SYD after a concert on Friday night (Pink Martini) and thought I'd take the long way home by flying JQ StarClass (JQ35) down to MEL and then on to QF back to CBR.

It's a good opportunity to try out StarClass relatively cheaply - I'm thinking of taking it for a future trip so I'd like to see if I'd be willing to spend lots of hours in it :)

Then of course I'll be there the Friday after for my weekend in Fiji :D

Make sure they know you’re paying for StarClass and not just op-uped, as I recall an incident with a member in April when the FA’s thought he’d been op-uped and wouldn’t give him the appropriate benefits for free on board. I think a complaint afterwards sorted things out though, but I think they op-up a few and then don’t give all the benefits, so just beware of that ;)

Hmm, thanks for the heads up.

It looks like a fairly empty cabin. I selected 2D, but had the whole cabin to choose from with the exception of 6J and 6K.

I guess it is a bit of a hassle to fly that sector though unless following the flight through internationally :)

Do people actually eat pate? I tried some in a lounge a while back and it was awful. Pehaps it is meant to be like a type of garnish where you really only eat it if you are really desparate....

Yes John they do.

Like if you have ever spent some time in Asia you will have eaten dog without knowing about it!!!

like the time i was wolfing down what i thought was the best ever sashimi in the world at a new year's thing in japan ... then my homestay sister said i really seemed to like 'basashi' ...

me: 'basashi'? is that just ... another way of saying 'sashimi'?

her: unn ~ [laughs] uma desu! [haha no ... it's 'uma']

me: looking puzzled - still eating - while i try to figure out what else 'uma' could mean, since the only 'uma' i knew was ...

... horse.

well that was more or less the end of that conversation (for about 5 mins, when i realised, i just couldn't resist! :-|)

I just love being there... The breakfast I had white egg thing was ok. The facial was good but it's just such a pleasant place to be. It's so clean, the seats are so comfy...

In a first for ME... Christmas Day 2010 will see Myself and +1 head off for a well deserved break. It will be interesting to see what is on offer in the SYD FLounge on the day.

I will be sure to post the fare on offer.

A couple of years ago when I went through on Christmas Eve (or roughly then). There was a turkey dish and IIRC Christmas pudding on offer.
