Sydney Domestic J Lounge Showers

I don't think we are on the same page with this as I am not talking about lounge access as you point out there are many ways to gain entry to the J lounge
Access to the J Lounge showers are based on J Lounge access, no?.

Though I agree that 2000FF points are basically useless shrapnel.
....

3.4 limits the airline's liability to the extent that 3.5 allows.
3.5 acknowledges the liability under Australian consumer guarantee

The issue here (apart from poor shower cleanliness) is the value of a lounge access. I suggest it has nothing to do with cost of airline ticket. This is because passengers on 2 different priced tickets who are eligible to use the lounge can use the same showers in the same manner without any difference in service levels - you don't get a better shower amenity just because a higher price was paid for the ticket. Similarly just because someone paid more for a J ticket does not entitle them to better amenities within the J cabin. The price of the ticket is the consideration paid in the Contract of Carriage for the flights for you and your baggage allowance. Lounge access incl shower access is not part of that Contract.

In order to get more blood out of the stone, the customer unfortunately would need to expend and waste more time pursuing this in some small claims or administrative tribunal as they may be entitled to under Australian Consumer Guarantee legislation.

bigger problem here are the grotts that do not clean up after themselves and take the towels out. Have had that a number of times in Sydney. Utter pigs.
Agreed. Unfortunately being in J, having necessary status, doesn't mean people have basic decency to clean up after themselves or put towels in bins etc.

Been a while since I've had a shower in a dom lounge but I vaguely recall the front desk in some lounges providing the towels.

It certainly isn't like the peak times at Singapore where there are dedicated shower attendants taking bookings, handing out towels and cleaning in between.

I must admit my airl8ne lounge shadower use is predominantly overseas and never QF…but my basic expectation is that the shower is cleaned between each use. When it works, I like the system of the Changi SQ lounges where you get a buzzer. Their showers have always been well+prepared by staff for the next user.

Absolutely domestic showers in Sydney are a mess. The use requirement, as per the OP, is the inbound platinums from the overnights into Australia. This is when I use the lounge in SYD, although I do try to arrive into MEL from overseas as that is so much better than the bus in Sydney.

I think the last two times in Sydney I've arrived into Oz, got to the J lounge and some A-hole has not cleared their towels. Maybe I'm just triggered by the grotts.

Absolutely agree that domestic experience is variable between lounges.

Over the last 2 years I have been doing 3 - 4 trips per year into North America in J and had moved away from QF for the most as found from Perth I could book JAL in J with CX code share PER to HKG then JAL to NRT to YVR or LAX at around 1/2 the QF price and while a 2 - 3 hours longer overall travel the onboard and airport experience much better then QF via SYD or MEL. The last two trips I went with AA via SYD and then this last one with QF via SYD and putting aside the poor lounge experience on Sunday as I have secured some good sales fares but the more i think about it our two main entry airports in SYD and MEL are both really poor in most categories and while MEL is good in the fact that both terminals are connected I still find SYD the better of two evils but now planning my next trip back in early August and will be going back to the JAL path and enjoying the Pier HKG and JAL 1st NRT and in my way of thinking punishing QF with the 10K lost revenue based on the poor token 2000 goodwill points offered as a gesture of recognition rather than compensation as they put it so maybe i am petty or entitled or both but as i am in full control of my travel spend it feels great that i can respond this way and what's better i am not a slave to status or FF points as i can still retain WP with the 4 required flights on domestic QF flights and 2 JAL trips trips, this approach prevents me from P1 although that would be rewarding Qantas more then me by directing my spend to them for this.

I never understood why they’re not run like international, cleaned after every use with a list when busy.

That said, it is what it is, and it’s no different to entering a toilet cubical when someone’s left you a nasty surprise. They’ll be cleaned periodically but if you enter after a pig but before they clean it, this is going to happen.

QFi showers are spotless.

MEL domestic J lounge showers were also spotless on Monday PM with fresh set of towels inside.

Is there signage in the bathroom about where to return the towels? I can't recall.

While you're on (or off) the topic of the bus, that is one of the parts of a journey where the priority system based on class of travel & FF status breaks down.
Much like the gate-specific security checks for flights to Australia from Malaysia or Singapore.

Signage may not be in the bathroom itself but towel return bin is usually just outside the bathroom
My point is, if people aren't aware, the norm in lounge showers is to leave the towels in it. So while there is a lot of outrage about people having done so, perhaps its not malice or because you're a grot.

It’s pretty obvious when collecting the towels wrapped in plastic that the dirty ones get returned in the bin below or beside them (I don’t recall exactly).

They definitely grots!!

Showers and associated areas become wet and dirty every time they are used.
Even if they are used by extremely clean, considerate and conscientious customers.
There is no real substitute for staff cleaning them after every use.
Put the blame where it belongs, on Qantas cost-cutting, not on PAX.
