Hi Folks,

I'm new to this and have a new job where i fly a pretty regular Sydney Auckland route. I usually prefer Emirates operated flights (sold by QANTAS) for the A380 service.

I'm just wondering if there are any tips anyone can provide on gaining more status credits on this route. Work funds economy but if there are some things I could do to boost my status credits it would be useful. I'm QFF silver and a Q Club member.

Thanks

Ben

160 SC for SYD-AKL-SYD on LA800/801 on LAN at a cost of $780 in J.

Am doing this mid-March most likely.

Fly SYD/MEL/AKL or SYD/BNE/AKL for not a lot of extra SC return. As work is paying, book late or more flexible economy fare to earn economy SC rates, not discount SC rates -double SC return.

I scrape SG every year, helped out by the full economy SC earn.

I would offer caution on doing this for business travel though, as AKL-SYD is often delayed due to late arrival from SCL (and, on occasion, cancelled entirely). Also the 6am departure from Auckland is often not conducive to business travellers who are going to AKL for business. Apart from that it's great value.

Essentially premium classes J and F give more status. No Y+ on EK. Also go SYD-MEL-AKL or SYD-BNE-AKL and return.

AFF tradition : "Why fly direct when you can connect"

Having said that there are more than a few WP here on AFF who reach their status with predominant Y fares.
SYD-AKL-SYD is double the Y SC for SYD-MEL-SYD by not always double the price.

Shame about the ~7am departure both ways - doesn't leave a lot of time for (F) lounging in SYD.

Try the LAN web site. I just tried SYD-AKL-SYD out on the 19th Mar & back on the 21st Mar and it came up at $776.86.

AKL-SYD-AKL is normally cheaper as well.

Thanks. Just checked for early April. Same flights on QF website are $1000(ish) each way.
Question - where do you enter your QFF number to get the SC and points?
(sorry am new to using partners)

On the LAN website, after choosing your flight date, step 4 is where you enter your details including your QFF number.
