SYDNEY airport passenger traffic continues to increase as flights become more affordable due to more local competition.

Airport owner Macquarie Airports (MAp) said yesterday that traffic volumes at Sydney, Brussels, Bristol and Copenhagen airports all increased in November.

Good news. With passenger numbers increasing it may mean that airfares will decrease along with airport prices....

Yes, prices should come done, but I wonder if they will given the largely monopolistic position held by airport owners - prices are driven by what the market will withstand and the intense drive for profit, so increased volume may only bring more profit rather than lower prices (at airports at least)...
