I see BNE-SIN-HND r/t for $600 (need to add credit card fees on that) by SQ (book on VA); haven't followed through yet, but not sure if that's just standard fare anyway.

Other than that, I see the other "specials"... it's almost as cheap - if not cheaper - than Australia domestic; I'm very tempted!

I recently got $40, but in the form of two $20 vouchers, one of which was only good for perfume. (I gave that one away.)
I got $40 in September and used the vouchers to buy a bottle of Jack Daniels for ~SGD0.70 which was pretty good deal.

Need to find out if VA codeshares are eligible for Changi dollars.

If these fares to Europe covered a time where the weather wasn't going to be horrible, i'd probably have been divorced this morning after having booked last night, haha.

They do! See the other thread! I booked flights MEL-CDG in July/Aug for $855.

Gave up on the broken Expedia website and booked directly on VA website BNE-SIN-PVG return X2 $645.

Thanks to the OP and the poster who mentioned Seoul, we'll go visit the in-laws. 2 adults and a child for $1045. Now to break it to the 6 year that is of the view that family should visit her because she's sick of overseas travel.

Excellent news. My airfares were not that cheap as I wanted to secure the right flights.

Visas sorted. Do you think it's asking for too much to try and sort seat allocation before hand? Need bassinet for my daughter.

You have got to be quick when these fares pop up.

Booked a 'reasonable' fare this morning BNE-PER-SIN return through Expedia and would of liked a few more but it was then too late.

It would be icing on the cake if my VA statement credit comes through as well (Amex T&C exclude purchases through Expedia but VA appear to have billed me direct so could get another $30 back).

Once saw same fares on Expedia could be booked directly on VA I was confident they will be honoured.

If using cashrewards, fares booked on Expedia get 1% and fares booked directly on VA get 3% cashback.

Did you have to do a multi-city booking to get the stopover?
Na I didn't have too, it just gave me that option for a connection, thought I'd take the longer one and have tea in Singapore along boat/ Clark quay and then a nice civilized departure the next day at around 2 pm .

Ah, OK. I was trying to force an overnight connection in SIN but it didn't quite work out for SYD-SIN-ICN. I ended up with red-eyes in both directions...

I am leaving BNE on a Friday night and returning Sunday afternoon and do not need to spend money on a hotel.

Should have booked some more flights but calendar is full until May and cannot book beyond that yet.

Who are you crediting your miles too and how do you know how much you will earn. I have never flown using cash only points.

Velocity. Not quite enough for another year of Gold for membership year that ends October 2017. I have credited the same flights to Velocity before and I believe partner SCs on SQ remain the same after the recent changes.

Thanks danoleary55 for posting. Secured our flights back to SIN from MEL at Easter and then going back to MEL during the next Singapore public holiday in late June. Was too late at night though to realise we should have done a one way back to SIN in June as well, using throwaway ticketing to PEK. Doh!

Bookings made under this 'offer' from VA were my first mistake fares. My experience;

1). Booked SYD - LHR - SYD for $761 + $9 cc charges for Feb / Mar. On reflection I should have flown into MAN and out of LHR but the adrenaline was running - would probably have save $25-30 as well. Remembered to use right credit card to 'activate' travel insurance.

2). Booked SYD - CAN - SYD for $282 + $3 cc charges for May / Jun for Mrs SydneySwan. I paid with right credit card to 'activate' travel insurance but afterwards found that need to spend $500 to do this. Consequently should have paid with a different Amex which had VA cash back offer - spend $150 for $30 credit.

So great deals but room for improvement in my booking 'execution' next time. And those low cc fees were a bonus compared to the $30 fee on each ticket which would have been due under the previous cc fee regime.

Another bonus - using the 'family pooling' Mrs SydneySwan should now qualify for Virgin silver after my trip to UK.
