If anyone is making their way to SYD T3, Qantas domestic just a heads up that there has been a security breach and they are emptying the terminal and rescreening everyone. They have estimated that it will take 20-30 mins to empty the terminal and they will then start rescreening everyone in flight order (they will be calling out each flight number for screening).

Flights will be delayed.

At approx 1400 hours I was strolling through the terminal and I passed by some tape barriers blocking off gates 1-3, security at that stage had already shut down. Shortly after they started with the announcement about clearing the terminal.

HTHS if you have a flight this afternoon you might want to keep an eye on what is happening.

No matter how many barriers and blocked access points they put up, there is always one dufus that manages to walk into a sterile area without being security screened (more often than not, a contractor on site). Not going to be a 'fun' afternoon at T3 today!

They have already screened all cabin crew and retail staff and they are working their way through the flight numbers quite quickly.

I'm in the super secret queue ;) we are moving quite efficiently given the numbers of people.

I made it through and have been sitting in the J lounge for about five minutes now. If anyone is about PM me (or leave a message here if you prefer).

Just through, some of the QF staff are a bit precious, asked by when no one was being screened in the line I was in QF Bernard replied it was crowded on the other side. Of course when I got through about 4 mins later it was not crowded anymore than normal.

QF could have done a lot better.

Matt

I had no problems in my queue. It moved relatively quickly and there was no one doing the DYKWIA routine. There were a few slow pokes who would only start to take their shoes off/computers out as they approached the screening belt. I (and many others) just stepped in front of them and kept the queue flowing.
