Looking at a year on year comparison on country pairs by airline there are some significant movements:

Both QF and JQ are down significantly on Singapore traffic
VS has seen a 34% increase on traffic to the UK, half the plane is going through.
QF has a 27% increase in UK bound traffic.
MH has lifted 20%

So again, when JQi is the answer, it seems the wrong question is being asked.

I wasn't specifically suggesting SIN as an EU stopover. Just that it is proving popular for whatever reason, be it en route to EU; as a major asian hub; or a destination in its own right.

or a lounge crawl.....

JQ has reduced SIN capacity somewhat, but the QF one is interesting. I assume someone who flew same flight number service to LHR would be counted as UK bound. What about someone who flew BNE-SIN-LHR or PER-SIN-LHR with a flight change in SIN... are they counted at Singapore or UK? Also, tied to this, does a 27% increase in UK bound traffic on QF mean that QF1/9 are carrying more pax to LHR than before, or just that less people are doing a stopover enroute (with the shift to DXB transit from SIN)?

Don't need to convince me, I'm a big fan of Singapore and have no interest in ever seeing Dubai again, but, QF only flew one flight a day from MEL to SIN (A380) when it was a 'hub'. They still fly one flight a day albeit just an A330. Now when they are actively trying to herd everyone through Dubai they are unlikely to be increasing capacity to SIN. Of course you can fly QF8405 !

Very happy flying SQ.

Do you have SYD-DXB and MEL-DXB numbers?

THanks Markis10 - interesitng numbers (lower than expected).

Although, there'd be a number of EK pax onto the KUL and SIN flights that head onwards to DXB then onwards to all sorts of places, and also the EK/QF alliance only effective Q4 for the financial year so there should be a large jump for the current year (at least 2 QF A380s/day!).

Am I missing something here?
There seems to be an increase of traffic to SIN, however, QF and JQ are down for SIN, while SQ didn't increase its market share either. How are pax getting to SIN these days?

Probably EK.

Scoot, EY and EK!

There's only been an increase of 2505 pax from 2012 to 2013 so not a huge increase. The previous busiest international route SYD-AKL must have stagnated or shrunk?

TZ has grown probably at QF's expense ex SYD/BNE, EY also taking from QF at BNE, but JQ has lost quite a lot considering it only operates MEL-SIN, and TZ don't operate to MEL. EK may have picked up some, but more likely it has grabbed QF's ex-MEL pax.

Looks as though the partnership is benefiting one partner a little more than the other.

but JQ has lost quite a lot considering it only operates MEL-SIN, and TZ don't operate to MEL.

JQ operate DRW-SIN as well. (Oh and PER-DPS-SIN, but the number of pax that would choose that way of getting to SIN, instead of 3K operated PER-SIN would be very small I guess). With MEL-SIN they reduced capacity from daily to 5x weekly so that probably has had the biggest impact.

What is the source for all the data?

Is Etihad just BNE-SIN or other routes?
Emirates is both BNE and MEL.

JQ operate DRW-SIN as well.

They used to have a SYD flight connecting to it, and possibly to/from other cities as well.

And that's some good growth for EK, considering they only have one flight per day to MEL and BNE each.
