Hi all,

So I have been monitoring the release of BA reward seats (through Qantas website) with the hope of booking SYD-SIN and then SIN-LHR using Qantas points. Up until about 2 weeks ago, I saw these seats being consistently released each day, for the latest possible day in the booking calendar next year (ie 355 days or whatever it is ahead).

However, this seemed to abruptly stop about 2 weeks ago, and when I log on to the QF website to search these routes (as award seats) the BA flights do not show up at all, even for economy seats.

I also just had a look at SeatSpy which shoes reward seat availability for these routes goes up until March 24, but then nothing at all for Apr/May/Jun/Jul 24 ? Also using SeatSpy, I can see alot of availability on other BA long haul routes up to July 24, so seems it’s just these 2 routes where availability has vanished.

Anyone know what might be going on here ?

Well I just looked at my BA account and no awards on BA from 14/3/24 now. Occasional days have QR availability up until July and rare days QF to SIN and BA then to LHR.
Seems like Spring and summer in Europe are going to be busy. Maybe the Paris Olympics having some effect with people wanting to avoid higher prices bringing their travel forward.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

If it’s Paris olympics related you would think it wouldn’t just be the SYD and SIN flights affected though ? There is still reward availability into July from USA and Asia to LHR

Could be that BA hasn't finalised its schedule for the IATA Summer period for SYD-SIN-LHR?

I think that a much larger percentage of Australians are travellers to Europe and sports tragics than the US and Asia.

BA guarantees award space on all flights in their network - 4 in J, 2 in W and 8 in Y for long haul and 4 in J and 8 in Y for short haul. The SYD flight often gets snapped up within 5 mins of release.

Yes normally they do. But at the moment they aren’t releasing any for these flights, hence my question. I’ve been checking right on release time, and nothing.

I've been noticing the same things where previously you would always see BA J award seats for SYD-LHR when seats are released at 10am Syd time each day, whether checking on BA, QF or CX websites and when logged in to BA it would show 4 J seats available. Then nothing was showing each day as new seats should have been released at 10am, even on the BA website, as has been mentioned above.

I've started looking again over the last few days and I am now again seeing 4 J seats released for SYD-LHR and LHR-SYD when logged in to my BAEC account, with 26 July 2024 being released this morning. However these flights are not showing if I log in to my QFF account or to my CX account, so it appears that BA are not currently making the same flights available to QF or CX FF members.

Yeah SeatSpy alerted me that they released a whole bunch of SYD-SIN reward seats for July 24 in one go about a week ago (coinciding with the announcement about aircraft changes on the LHR-SIN/SYD route). But yes, they aren’t showing on QF as they normally were previously. Weird
