Hi Forum
I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this but just wanted to check. I am booking a one way flight from SYD - LAX via SFO. I actually want to get off at SFO and not take the second leg of the flight. Is there any issue with doing this? I will have to collect my luggage anyway at SFO to go through customs.
I already have a reward flight back from the states to Australia, which is why I am looking at one way flights to purchase.
My reason for booking SYD - LAX even though I want to go to SFO is the cost. The prices are already ridiculous for the date I am going (27th June) at around $1500-$1700 one way - even a return at that time is $2600. Not sure what's going on with west coast USA flights at this time. The best priced economy seat I found is with United Airlines, but funny enough they want to charge $2200 one way to SFO and yet only $1600 to LAX via SFO - the SYD/SFO portion is the same flight as the SFO one way.
I hope this makes sense. As I will have no further flights on the PNR there is no issue with no-show / cancellation of the flight, so I guess my question is more in regards to immigration / customs looking at the flights I have booked and wondering why I am not continuing on to LAX.
Also if anyone knows how I can get a cheaper one way flight then your assistance will be greatly appreciated!
Ta,
Andy
