Ms F has opportunity to go to London in fortnight. Options being considered are EK, QF, BA, EY.

Timing wise QF has arrival early morning. Return trip has late evening departure. Both EK and EY offer limo in Sydney on departure and London on arrival.

Advice appreciated.

Which frequent flyer pograms is Ms F a member of? If VA, I would go EY. The EY flight has a decent evening departure time (Ex Syd) and also arrives in LHR at 1pm in the afternoon.

QF. She's just told me she's inclined to take EK because of timings. Leave SYD Sat, arr Sat evening. Leave LHR Wed, arr Thu evening, then go to work Fri.

Can you put SQ on the list?

Best airport transit and arguably still the world's best airline! And as a bonus, no poor quality, culturally dissimilar Middle Eastern airport to visit.

If she is looking for points and SC's then you pretty much have to go with The leprechaun's QF. If not try BA via SIN which is much better than DXB, new BA lounge etc or via HKG which is CX then BA. If you look on here there is a 10% partner offer around.
just came back on QF in J and was not that impressed
EK is nice if you like bling and timing options can be useful

edit: ba offer but cannot find the link

Actually at the current time I'd probably avoid QF operated flights... there have been a lot of (quite extensive) delays recently. No one wants to be stuck for 12 or 24 hours either in London, Dubai, or another stopping point.

As unfortunate as it is for QF - the QF fleet seems to be pretty stretched at the moment. So a delay anywhere on the system could end up delaying the London flights. Other airlines are probably better equipped to source other aircraft to operate flights.

I don't quite get the culturally dissimilar issue? What's your key experience here between the Middle East and Asia?

While I agree than on the whole SIN is a more pleasant airport than DXB for someone without lounge access (but in J this is a bit redundant IMO), I think there are merits to taking EK, A380 all the way, then straight to J lounge in DXB, and boarding direct from the lounge. SIN has security at the gate which I find a complete pain

Decision made...BA won with their one way upgrade to F.

That sounds pretty good! Which way for the upgrade? QF F lounge in SYD v Concorde Room in London!

Outward journey. TA also arranged chauffeured car to pick up from home. Works Mon and Tue in London and back home 0500 Fri.

In Nov goes to Orlando for four day conference. Via DFW in PE.
