Hi Guys, I am heading to LA in October. Due to late approval I have missed the boat on J fares within the budget ($5k max). I am keen to make the most and pick up the SC's so was thinknig the following options. I am SG so have Lounge access.

Travel dates are:
depart on 13th Oct, arrvive before 15th
Return Depart LA Oct 18th PM Late

The options I am thinknig are:
- PE trip with CX via Hong Kong was good value - 300SC's. I appreciate CX means I can't secure an upgrade with QF points...
- FJ - Get to Fiji in Econ and then do J to LA.
- Do above but stop over in Hawaii on the way and pick up a couple more SC's (How do I calculate the earn on FJ?). I think I can do that within budget, just.
- Stop putting myself up for punishment, fly PE qith QF direct and settle for the 180 SC's?

Am I crazy, or have ai missed a simpler option?

If you don't care about SCs, you can probably get J with one of the Korean airlines for about $4800. Just a thought.

If not, i would go PE on CX. The FJ options sound too hard, unless you are in J the whole way.

How about splitting the trip between JQ Business, SYD- HNL & AA F HNL - LAX?

You would need to check this but the JQ flights would earn 280 sc's & the AA 300 sc's

Also looking at ticket prices, you should be able to sneak it in under 5k...just.

Just keep your service expectations modest.
