SYD-KUL flight options for 4 pax in Y

QF WP
VA WP and VA SG

Current options:

D7 : Nope
MH : Has their financial situation stabilised enough for me to become an unsecured creditor?
SQ : VA codeshare. Can get lounge access but Krisflyer Gold lounge in SIN does not have showers. But 1PNR ticket possible in SQ metal
QF : 1PNR option involves using 3K - not keen. There is a 1PNR with QF/MH pair. Or 2PNR option with QF to SIN direct and then MH to KUL. Alternatively SYD -MEL- SIN with QF + EK codeshare on the A380. But SIN-KUL via MH.

Will QF check me through and interline luggage to MH on a 2 PNR option?

Flight times all about the same except of course MH has the best flight times.

EK also operates between MEL and KUL but the QF website doesn't seem to offer any domestic connections...

Yes thanks thats another option, QF has a codeshare for this if MEL-KUL is entered into QF search engine..

Could do SYD-MEL on QF separate PNR then squeeze into 10 seat across EK 773. If there is one negative aspect about EK is their high density 777 Y seating arrangement

Don't ignore Air Asia X. The prices for their business flat bed are very reasonable

its not their Cabin, though the A333 with 9 across is tight.
its the flight deck.

LCC = some flight deck operators who can turn on autopilot but cant fly the airplane when manual flying required. AKA QZ8501. Am I being too harsh?

Someone has a lot of opinions, what are you actually asking??? Go by boat - might be the best option for you

Air Asia for a J offering is very attractive even s Y price can be very good

You are forgetting AF447 - a legacy carrier?

Agreed- the OP dislikes all options. Perhaps either a private jet or stay home?

Don't dislike all options but all options have pros and cons. There is no one standout. Luckily don't have to decide for another month or so. Currently leaning toward a QF to SIN then MH to KUL. Some other options might also impose an overnighter in SIN or MEL which I would like to avoid

I'd recommend MH. You are unlikely now to become an unsecured creditor. They're owned by government ultimately and have been restructured and have been making hard decisions to turn the company around. If it is on safety grounds then that is a personal decision.

I know its a little out of the way, but have you considered CX? you do lose more time but its not ridiculous.

I'd fly MH on safety grounds
I've always wondered how MH/SIA girl would perform in an emergency in their sarongs.

Are they restructured or still restructuring?.

I'll have a look at this. It would be SYD-HKG-KUL?

Yes, I think if you get the morning flight from SYD you can arrive in KUL the same day, and if you leave KUL early afternoon, you can get the o/night flight back from HKG.

The rate of announcements seems to have slowed. Key pointers .... mid last year the old company was dissolved, all employees terminated and some (total workforce - several thousand) rehired by new company. Many services axed around then (FRA, BNE, IST, 3->2 daily on SYD & MEL, some China services etc). EK deal announced late last year, services to AMS & CDG axed and recently DXB also axed). Seems to have slowed since then. I doubt that SYD would be dropped, in fact over Christmas/NY some services were upgauged to A380 (SYD) or some days operated 3x daily (MEL, not sure about SYD),
