Hi,

Very excited to see flight schedules starting up again. Wondering if anyone has heard any information about Qantas restarting their SYD-JFK route via LAX? I'm looking to do that one next year, at the moment when I search (August/September) the only options are QF to either LAX or DFW then AA for the leg to JFK. Not the end of the world but would prefer QF all the way to maximise my double SC Travel Pass booking.

Thanks

I'd say it's a little while off - probably not until QF SYD/MEL-LAX are back to morning departures. It only really worked because BNE/SYD/MEL could all connect to it. Probably once they get the last of the A380s back and running towards the end of 2022.

I wonder if they could time an AA A321T to connect with it to operate the LAX-JFK leg, even under a wet lease. The AA JV means there's less imperative to operate it on their own metal - until they can operate direct with the A350s. It was a good way to use an aircraft rather than sitting at LAX all day, but will be a little while until they're doing that again.

That downtime in LA was about the only time that they stood around for any length of time, at a point where maintenance was possible, and is the reason QF built its own hangar there.
