SYD-IAD Best options using reward account

For a trip in August, for 2 pax, wondering which points/miles account would be best use for business class. One would be return trip and the other OW. Both need to travel together. Not bothered by longer trip.
I have SQ, QF, CX, US Airways, Velocity points.

On VA you'll be up for 250,000 + $165 for SYD-IAD return, flying VX from LAX to IAD.

VA has a 15% discount on rewards flights on their metal at the moment, so SYD-LAX return is only 159,800+ ~$150. So it might be attractive to book the IAD leg separately.

Absolutely - 79,900 + $100.89 for SYD-LAX.

Taxes ex-Aus are a bit higher so the cash split isn't 50:50. But with no YQ it's still a dramatic improvement over the offerings of most others on the route.

Thank you Fruitcake. Just as one comparison, US Airways return in J South Pacific-USA & Canada is 110,000 miles. I don't know about availability but direct flights would be with United. Indirect flights, via Asia, permissible, I think...options to IAD include ANA. Food for thought. OW award flights cost same return. I suppose changes, for say return flight, will cost extra. Maybe NZ via LAX may also be possible with award flights.

Called US Airways now to check availability. Nothing, even via FRA, Asian cities, AKL.

Cannot see VA promotion to LAX otherwise this would be good value to LAX.

Departure August 16. Suggestions/advice appreciate.
