Renovations complete by the looks of it and so sad to see the Char siu pork with Spice Temple pickles and black vinegar dressing off the menu.

Current autumn menu:

Red Roo: please do all you can to bring back the wonderful Char siu pork!

The slow roast lamb was nasty! A big thumbs down. It looked appealing but the turmeric eggplant had quite a tart flavour which was very unpleasant to my pallet, the balance wasn't there. Lamb fell apart, coriander yoghurt was yummy and the basmati rice was good but the turmeric eggplant killed the dish IMHO.

You really liked the char siu?

I'm likely biased as I'm Asian by background, but the char siu, although had flavour, was not the best. It was rather dry in my experience, and a lot of rice.

It might have been nicer as a small plate with a bit of salad, with the pickles and a dipping vinegar.

Depends on the tartness you tasted. Eggplant is naturally very tart to start with; as it is cooked down (especially with salt) it loses the tartness.

I don't mind the tartness in eggplant, but I know for many it is a turn off. I can see that it could easily throw the balance of the dish....
